I have sent an email out with some important information to the D3 South men's teams for the 2017-18 season. If your team has not received the email please contact me. I will need input from all the teams. ...
As The Sports & Fitness Industry Association - SFIA celebrates #PHITDay17, we look at what sports are doing a great job attracting athletes. Spoiler alert: Rugby (sport) and Lacrosse have reason to cheer.
1 - April 1st is the CIPP deadline. No CIPP, no rugby, no exceptions.
2 - CMS Match Reports Don't forget that on Wednesday morning coordinators are locking matches. Make sure all of your score reports are submitted on time.
If you have an issue, you need to work out the score with the ref and the opponent before you escalate to your coordinator. If you need to escalate, you should do so before the match is locked.
And don't forget to report your subs!
3 - Weather. Make sure you know all about the weather policies, as posted on macrugby.org
Be forewarned - especially the further north you are: If field cancellations are happening, please look at your schedule and confirm when you can complete matches. It is possible that some of the North and Central playoffs may need to shift to April 15th to account for this. We are asking for your flexibility so we can be ready for the April 22nd Quarterfinals.
If your team can make accommodations to play on Friday or Sunday in order to alleviate any issues, please show flexibility as your field arrangements allow, and go for that. Two games in a weekend is difficult, but it might be necessary.
4 - Quarterfinals exist for Men's D3 only this year.
Several men's D2 clubs have asked about the D2 quarterfinals. That was an oversight on my part, as we did have this back in 2015 when there was a North/South split, but not in 2016 as there was one league without subdivisions. When we split the D2 at the last minute in determining schedules during the summer we did not also reinstate the quarterfinals. We will correct that for next year. Semi finals are on April 29 and Championships are on May 6.
Women's D1-2-3 are as originally planned with semifinals and championships happening April 29-30.
5 - MAC Meeting Minutes
USA Rugby has made the promise to start publishing notes. I have yet to see anything.
(PSA: If you see something, say something. )
I am publishing what is available since the beginning of the MAC in 2013. While some of the discussion points are not clearly discernible most of our meetings since 2013 have the clear agenda and some of the final outcomes provided.
Going forward, MAC will be publishing meeting minutes in order to convey what it was we've discussed and provide that transparency to you.
Thank Matthew Robinette for pushing this with all of USA Rugby. It is some of the transparency needed.
Please welcome Lacy Ames as the new Secretary of the Capital Rugby Union. Lacy is currently the President of Frederick RFC and has the enthusiasm and engagement to be an effective member of the Board of the Union.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Board, all positions will be up for a vote at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Please review the Union By-Laws for the process to run for a Board Position. Enjoy your season and be safe! Respectfully, Matt Robinette Capital Rugby Union President ...
