Hello Mid-Atlantic Rugby Community!
I wanted to update everyone on what’s been going on and what to expect in the next month or so.
I attended a conference call with USA Rugby and several of the new and existing Geographic Union Representatives the other day. Here are the highlights of the conversation:
- Seems that the system is working where it’s been in place for a while
- USA would like to see paid administrators running the Geographic Unions even if only a part time basis. The administrator is responsible for communication and organization. It seems as though USA would like one paid admin for several GUs.
- A new website is being developed by USA Rugby that will manage all aspects of the competition. You – the teams (specifically the Home team) will be responsible to edit the website following your matches. This site is still in development and should be rolling out for this fall’s competition.
- The GU’s will still be responsible for championships, funding the competition, and discipline
The East Penn Geographic Union and the Capital Geographic Union update
-We will begin with the Geographic Union by month’s end. Elections for each GU will be communicated by the GU. As for Capital, it’s coming up in August (shooting for August 18 in Springfield, VA).
Competition: All of the schedules for NCR4 are finalized. You can see all of competition related information here: www.macrugby.org. Let us know what you would like to see this website look like and what type of information you’d like to see populated.
I will continue to update you with information as I receive it. Thank you for electing me to this position. I appreciate the opportunity to grow rugby and keep our Union strong. I am grateful that I was able to help with this transition. As always, comments, questions, concerns, and critiques are appreciated and encouraged.
